    Norfolk Farm Leisure Limited have submitted plans to transform Ashwicken Lake, an unused restored quarry lake, into a unique eco-wellness resort centred on waterside living, water-based recreation, and wellness. This £35m private investment in the local economy will see the lake reimagined from a former sand extraction pit, into a unique destination where outstanding architectural elements will seamlessly combine with an enhanced natural landscape, to offer a memorable staycation as well as a leisure facility for local people.

    The resort will consist of a 22,000 sq ft clubhouse and spa encircled by 132 lodges, all located on or near the water’s edge, and each with a mooring. The masterplan arranges the lodges in clusters, interspersed with new planting, trees, follies and water taxi jetties to create areas of different character across the resort. An iconic floating water lily of apartments, designed by Baca Architects, is moored in the south-eastern part of the lake. Alongside the existing woodland are 22 treehouses designed and supplied by Outdoor Sanctuaries.

    Set in the heart of the Humberside Peatlands, Hatfield Moor and the National Nature Reserve, the Tyram Lakes Hotel & Spa will deliver over a 100 luxury rooms, fine dining restaurant, conferencing and meeting facilities, pool, superior spa and picturesque party and wedding venue. The project has enabled the development of an off-site construction factory nearby that with pre-fabricate the floating lodges can make all the difference.

    Full Planning permission has been secured for 50 floating lodges on Lake 1 (Phase 1) with a further 100 planned for Lakes 2, 3 and 4 (Phase 2) . Full Planning permission has also been granted for a 104 room key hotel and spa. The site is currently under- construction and the waterside show lodge, complete with eco-hot tub is now complete. Phase 3 will see 50-100 treehouses in the adjacent woodland.

    About

    Baca Architects has designed a cocoa pod-shaped treehouse for an eco-hotel located on a secluded Panama island, which is accessible only by boat. The practice was asked to design the treehouse as well as a larger residence for the Bíku Treehouse Retreat on the Bocas del Toro archipelago. The treehouses will be constructed from Bamboo due to its strength and abundance on the island plus other locally sources materials.
